To get the most out of the system and make your life less painful, it is recommended that videos are kept to reasonable, say 20 minute, lengths.

  • This makes the video size (in Megabytes) smaller - so much much easier for you to upload.
  • It also makes it easier for you to review your videos.
  • It also allows you to characterise and classify more precisely what each video is about.

The recommended maximum length for any video would be 45 to 60 minutes. Preferably half that. Longer, and our wonderful but all-too-human Transcribers will be reaching for the Valium (if you request a Human transcription to be made).

If you do have long-format videos, of course, you can still upload and chop them up inside the system, by clipping the video into convenient lengths.

BUT...

  1. There will be no face recognition analysis happening in super-long videos. Technically, if the video we need to create out of the one you upload - which allows you to clip - is >200MB in size, then face-analysis will fail. Again, you just need to clip that video into smaller pieces in order to get it working.

  2. Large videos will not have the option for you to download the video with subtitles embedded. This is a physical limitation of the computers we use. Currently, we're playing the Lotto, backing long-odds horses and investing in a bag of magic beans that we'll have the money to upgrade our computers soon.
